Post Tribune on political rhetoric

And a quote from our site http://reasonbellpundit.blogspot.com when talking about Barack Obama
clipped from www.post-trib.com

What's the real purpose of all this political rhetoric?

On the flip side, McCain supporters are also singing a familiar refrain, such as this recent Porter County Politics blog post by Valparaiso pundit Steve Dalton.

"Obama will be change, sure ... Less freedom to speak out your religion, or guns, or right and wrong. Less entrepreneurs creating jobs ... less growth, nationalized risk ... a place no longer beckoning to the rest of the world. A place the world likes better because we've lost our edge and given up."

Liberal Media Bias slammed by author

Oh this one is good, make sure you go and read the entire article by author Orson Scott Card

Are there any journalists left still worthy?

Here's the genesis of this artice: Rush Limbaugh read it today on air, I posted a tweet about it and then got quite a few requests for a link to the article from friendfeed followers. So I went searching, and (update) found the article on the author's blog.
I remember reading All the President's Men and thinking: That's journalism. You do what it takes to get the truth and you lay it before the public, because the public has a right to know. This housing crisis didn't come out of nowhere. It was not a vague emanation of the evil Bush Administration.
I have no doubt that if these facts had pointed to the Republican Party or to John McCain as the guilty parties, you would be treating it as a vast scandal. "Housing-gate," no doubt. Or "Fannie-gate."

Did Iran try to dirty bomb Israel last week?

One site is has stronger than average sources, suggesting that an Iranian ship pirated last month was actually filled with radioactive materials destined to be blown up off the coast of Israel. I'll readily agree that the initial post is not sourced well, but worth some prelim thinking for sure:

"On August 21st, 2008, the MV Iran Deyant, 44,458 dead weight bulk carrier was heading towards the Suez Canal. As it was passing the Horn of Africa, about 80 miles southeast of al-Makalla in Yemen, the ship was surrounded by speedboats filled with members of a gang of Somalian pirates who grab suitable commercial ships and hold them and their cargos and crews for ransom. The captain was defenseless against the 40 pirates armed with AK-47s and rocket-propelled grenades blocking his passage. He had little choice other than to turn his ship over to them.

Although American intelligence and government sources are maintaining a strictly observed silence, the same does not apply to the Russians and so it is that we learn the real story of the MV Iran Deyanat. She was an enormous floating dirty bomb, intended to detonate after exiting the Suez Canal at the eastern end of the Mediterranean and in proximity to the coastal cities of Israel. The entire cargo of radioactive sand, obtained by Iran from China (the latter buys desperately needed oil from the former) and sealed in containers which, when the charges on the ship are set off after the crew took to the boats, will be blasted high into the air where prevailing winds will push the highly dangerous and radioactive cloud ashore.

Given the large number of deaths from the questing Somali pirates, it should be obvious that when the contents of the ship’s locked cargo containers finally descended onto the land, the death toll would be enormous. This ship was nothing more nor less than the long-anticipated Iranian attack on Israel. Not the expected rocket attacks (which could be intercepted by the Israelis) but an even more deadly and unexpected attack by sea.. It is very interesting to note that the Israeli government has in the past few weeks, been loudly demanding that the United States establish a naval blockade of Iran."

Is Iran trying to attack Israel? Why now?

  • I don't think Iran is too happy that Israel and the western oriented Palestinians are still negotiating. The fanatics are losing power and possible democratic reforms in Palestine could lead to nationhood in the next decade. This isn't good for Iran
  • Iran knows that if they shoot a missile toward Israel, they will be rained with missiles and airplane attacks for months by US and Israeli military.
  • At root, the current regime in Iran is the classic bully. It's time to bloody the bullies nose.

Kosovo bloggers praise recognition

I didn't even know how to find Kosovo bloggers, so first off this was a helpful article in finding local area bloggers to subscribe and read.

Kosovo bloggers welcome Montenegro and Macedonia's recognition

Xheki, an Albanian from Montenegro, says he will celebrate the recognition of Kosovo by Montenegro together with his Montenegrin friends.

"Thank you, Montenegro," writes Kujtimi from Kosovo. "It's good news, but Montenegro had its own interests [in recognising Kosovo independence], because it intends to become part of the EU," says Bekimi from Pristina.

Blogger Visari is thanking the Albanians in Macedonia and Montenegro for their contribution to the recent diplomatic victories.

"Bravo, Skopje," exclaims Naser Prapashtica, while Velson writes: "Macedonia, after all, recognised the independence of Kosovo. I am so happy for this recognition."

Kosovo Albanian bloggers, in turn, cheered Djukanovic. "Bravo, Milo Djukanovic for your courage and clear vision for the people and the state you lead," exclaimed Kosovo blogger Fisi.

History: Aaron Burr v. Thomas Jefferson

An endorsement of a great leader over a man surrounded by corruption, in 1800 Alexander Hamilton endorsed Thomas Jefferson over Aaron Burr. Yesterday Colin Powell went the opposite direction and endorsed socialism and corruption over leadership and greatness.

Colin Powell is no Alexander Hamilton

Colin Powell endorsed the new Aaron Burr

The most important endorsement in U.S. political history came during the presidential election of 1800.  The House of Representatives had to choose between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr.

Colin Powell
His private character is not defended by his most partial friends.  He is bankrupt beyond redemption, except by the plunder of his country.  His ambition will not be content with those objects which virtuous men of either party will allot to it, and his situation and his habits will oblige him to have recourse to corrupt expedients, from which he will be restrained by no moral scruple.  To accomplish his ends, he must lean upon unprincipled men, and will continue to adhere to the myrmidons who have hitherto seconded him.

Let's discuss Indiana's FSSA privatization

Obviously the big reason it's making any news right now is that Democrats and Unions were against the initial privatization. The "spokespeople" are a bit suspect coming from virtually non-existent ACORN like groups. I'd be curious where they're support comes from.

If you know something about the actual services provided, I'd love to hear your comments.

But to argue that something won't work primarily because it's being done with less money and less workers, is pretty 1970 liberal.

Key words in Mr. Cardwell's quote "more money" ... for what? More money is no solution. Oh yeah, one more misleading thing: Nancy Griffin is his wife, not necessarily another prized expert, not sure that was divulged at this mock press conference to attack Mitch Daniels.

Come one step right up and tell me about the actual services being provided and actual people we're helping, not the people who are mad that they used to do the work more expensively.

The opponents included John Cardwell of the Indiana Home Care Task force; Nancy Griffin, a volunteer investigator; Jim Wallihan of United Senior Action; Andrea Smothers, a resident ombudsman with Indiana Legal Services in Lafayette; and Katie Bunder, executive director of Food Finders Food Bank.

"Humpty Dumpty has been pushed off the wall. It will take a lot of money and duct tape to get Humpty Dumpty back together again," he said.

College Students cheating to vote in Ohio

Well researched evidence that ACORN type activities are being taken even further, with college students travelling to battlegound states to register and vote. No, they don't live there, but they are trying to throw the election

The activists are leaders of a group called “Vote From Home ‘08.” The group is self-identified as having “extensive experience with political organizing, election administration, and Democratic politics.” They were hailed as the “Justice League” by a Daily Kos blogger. Their Facebook page brags: “Want to turn the Presidential election blue in a key swing state?

Christians under attack in Mosul Iraq

With the US spending billions in Iraq, it sure seems sad that we're seeing an escalation of violence against Christians in Iraq. Time to pull their little chain and remind them who gave them the chance for this democracy experiment

Official: 3,000 Christians Flee Iraq's Mosul

Hundreds of terrified Christian families have fled Mosul to escape extremist attacks that have increased despite months of U.S. and Iraqi military operations to secure the northern Iraqi city, political and religious officials said Saturday.

Some 3,000 Christians have fled the city over the past week alone in a "major displacement," said Duraid Mohammed Kashmoula, the governor of northern Iraq's Ninevah province. He said most have left for churches, monasteries and the homes of relatives in nearby Christian villages and towns.

Kosovo recognition by more nations

Support may be slowly building, but building it is, for Kosovo to retain its announced independence. Sure, Serbia will continue to complain and allies China and Russia will try to use the situation to gain an upper hand in their problematic regions. But for today, Kosovo looks like a nation, sounds like a nation ... Must be
New Kosova Report
Montenegro recognizes Kosovo

Montenegro announced today that it has recognized Kosovo as a sovereign and independence state, intending to build strong diplomatic ties with the newly born nation.

The recognition comes just one day after only a third of UN members backed Serbia's initiative to ask the International Court of Justice for a legally non-binding opinion on Kosovo's coordinated declaration of independence.

Macedonia is also expected to recognize Kosovo within a few hours tonight once the emergency parliamentary session in Skopje is over.

Many other countries are expected to recognize Kosovo in the coming days.

Biblical Worldview on Credit, Bailout, Recession

How little we think about God's plans for us, thanks for the reminder Dan.

Greatest Challenge is Knowing God, Not Recession

“And this is where we face our greatest challenge – knowing God and loving Him above all else. . . . The bottom line to any relationship is this: if you want to know someone, you must know him or her intimately.”

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12, NIV)

The real challenge isn’t “making ends meet,” but rather trusting God regardless of whether or not we can tie all the loose ends. The funny part is, I’ll bet the first thing most churched people these days do when money is tight is give less to God. Spiritually speaking, that’s the worse thing you can do. The real danger is spiritual recession, and we must be careful not to fall into its snare.

The bottom in housing - Fueling demand

Looks like July was indeed the bottom, and demand is increasing in all regions for homes. This will take a good six months to begin the process of reducing inventories so prices can begin to recover.

If you are thinking of buying, do so now at the bottom, you won't want to miss it.

Pending home sales index rises 7.4% in August: NAR

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Despite the credit crunch gripping the U.S. economy, the National Association of Realtors reported Wednesday that an index of sales contracts on previously owned homes rose 7.4% in August from the prior month.

NAR says pending home-sales activity rose because of buyers taking advantage of low prices and affordable interest rates. August's results show an "unleashing of pent-up demand" before the credit crisis worsened in September, Yun said.

Sarah Palin contributes more than Biden to charity

Once again we see the hypocrisy in liberalism, so I guess only government money can fix problems in society

    Charity and the Would-be Veeps

    Mark Perry reports:
Even though the Palins ($294,000) earned only about half the income of the Bidens ($569,000) in 2006 and 2007 combined, the Palins gave almost 6 times as much to charity ($8,205) in those two years as the Bidens ($1,375).
