Isreali Prime Minister suggests he would split Jerusalem?

How about Daniel 11:20?

Daniel 11 is a chapter which takes an interesting twist. It starts out describing a series of events in history – events which took place leading up to the reign of a despicable ruler in the Middle East – Antiochus Epiphanes.

The whole story in Chapter 11 is a foreshadowing of the despicable one who will someday be called the anti-christ.

The interesting twist happens at verse 21. Right at verse 21, I think, the events described are both history and future. Antiochus Ephiphanes and the future anti-christ are both there – Antiochus’s actions become a picture – a prophecy of the future actions of anti-christ.

So….the question is….does Daniel 11:20 describe something which happens in the time of Antiochus Ephiphanes only? Or does it describe something which happens in the time of anti-christ, too?

….if verse 20 describes something which happens in the time of anti-christ…then it could be, possibly, describing what could be about to happen in Jerusalem right now:

“Then in his place one will arise who will send an oppressor through the Jewel of his kingdom; yet within a few days he will be shattered, though not in anger or in battle.”

Possible interpretation? – Ehud Olmert comes to power when Ariel Sharon stumbles and falls and is found no more. Ehud allows oppressors (Palestinian government) to take legal control of part of the Jewel of the kingdom (Jerusalem). But, in a short amount of time, Ehud disappears himself from power – not violently.

I guess if Olmert actually brings this plan to pass…and then quietly, not violently, disappears from the political scene…perhaps we ought to start seriously keeping our eyes open!
