Again, I'll be the first to admit that I don't know a ton about the whole story in Congo this week, but reports that economically ravaged Zimbabwe may well be sending troops back into DR Congo can't be good for the region. Zimbabwean soliders will only be protecting junta interests.
Wouldn't it be far better for Zimbabwe to focus on following the will of the people in democracy and basic human rights. What's next, will Iraq start sending troops into Israel or Palestine? Of course not, they are trying to build a democratic nation and won't be ready to take part in their neighbors disputes for years to come.
The truth is, and this is easy to pick out of the clutter of news reports, there are massive mineral resources in DR Congo, and the nations surrounding it would like to get their hands on those riches.
